For my first contextual studies essay we have to write about any ethical issue in the world and that people face. my plan is to write about something of a relatable modern day issue that people face, but I want to relate too it myself so writing it can seem more personal. I was thinking about doing gender discrimination, feminism and equality type of essay but what I actually really relate to, is how teenage girls feel now in the modern days due to big companies, models, social media and how it effects their mental health state. This topic usually focusses on body image and insecurities that teenage girls feel with seeing certain things everyday and how they don't feel good enough, and how social media was suppose to be an escape and a source of entertainment but now is a very toxic platform for this day an age as you always see "the perfect body type" there's a lot of bulling that occurs (cyberbullying), pornography, dangerous strangers and preditors towards younger kids/adults. Usually its female girls that go through this which can really effect their mental health which can cause traumatising times in their childhood as it can cause depression, anxiety and even food disorders.
